We bid farewell to Tamás Vásáry...

We bid farewell to Tamás Vásáry, the founding conductor of the Zoltán Kodály Youth World Orchestra, honorary citizen of Debrecen, and honorary doctor of the University of Debrecen.

Vásáry TamásThis is a definitive and irrevocable statement; it signifies a tremendous loss… Rather, let us focus on what we have gained from him - what is eternal and lasting above all else.

Since 2009, Vásáry Tamás has conducted the orchestra of the Young Musicians' Summer Academy, the Kodály Zoltán World Youth Orchestra. Since 2009, more than 50 nations and thousands of young musicians cherish their experiences of working with him, benefiting from his professional guidance, the success of concerts both domestically and abroad, the standing ovations, the unceasing applause, and the musical experience that he created for both the orchestra and the audience.

Above all, we owe him gratitude for the humanity with which he approached young people, for the late-night conversations, for the stories, and for the genuine interest that transcended professionalism and was directed towards people.

His memory, teachings, and guidance will continue to live on in all directions of the compass across the world through former members of the World Orchestra. Thus, this moment is not merely a farewell but a promise...
