Éva Bátori graduated at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in 1988 and continued her studies at the Vienna State Opera Studio. From 1991 she was engaged by the Oper Leipzig, where she sung especially in Mozart's operas. From 1995 she sang with Cologne Opera. Her many roles with these companies include the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro, Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen, Mimì in Puccini’s Bohème, and the Princess in Busoni’s Doktor Faust. She made her U.S. opera debut at Seattle Opera in the title role of Puccini’s Tosca in 2001 and returned in 2004 in the title role of Puccini’s Fanciulla del West. She toured China with the Vienna State Opera and Japan with the Hungarian State Opera. In 2005 she recieved „Meritorious Artist” award. At this stage of her career singing premieres, Emil Petrovics composed his last opus for her. She is a professor of University of Theatre and Film Arts, Budapest and teaches in Vienna. She is a member of the Hungarian State Opera.
